EMDR

When traditional talk therapy has not been successful to fully resolve trauma or deeply rooted distress, EMDR can be a powerful path forward. We use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you gain more awareness to the connection between the past and the present. The goal is not only to heal emotional wounds, but also re-wire your body's flight, fight, or freeze response which may be dysregulated and easily triggered after experiencing trauma. EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess difficult memories lessening their emotional charge. It is especially effective for those struggling with PTSD, anxiety, childhood abuse, or memories that still feel vivid and overwhelming even after time has passed. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works directly with the brain’s natural healing processes to create lasting change, often helping people move forward after years of feeling stuck.

How It Can Help

Our trained EMDR therapists work with you to create a personalized plan that respects your pace and comfort. Through guided sessions, we help you safely access and reprocess difficult memories without becoming re-traumatized. Sometimes this means spending multiple sessions or more in the preparation and skill building phases. Our goal is to together create a sequenced treatment plan that works on your timeline and allows adjustments when necessary. Often times healing an early or core memory will have positive impacts on other related memories. EMDR changes how painful experiences are stored in the brain, reducing their emotional impact and over time changing how you think about yourself and how you show up in the world. EMDR can help you feel more empowered, grounded, and confident moving forward with a renewed sense of control over your life.
